Jurnal 7

Once upon a time, there was a 14 years old kid in a distant village of Egypt. His name was Rahim. He used to wash clothes along with his brother Akbar in a near by area from his home to earn his livelihood. His days passed very happily. He used wash the clothes with great a delight and used to sign within himself while washing the clothes. Once a singing function was held in the village and he went to watch the show. The next day a person heard him singing near the washing place, he came to the boy and said”I have come from the Sultan’s fort. The royal singer Firoz has asked you to see him in the fort by this week.” Rahim was taken aback and he asked the person the reason for which he was called but the person just smiled back and said “You will get to know everything once you go there” and departed. The next day Rahim set out for the fort and after two days of journey, finally they reached the gates of the fort.
When he tried to enter the gate, a huge guard hold him shoulder and asked” Where do you think you are going? Do you know that this is the fort of the Sultan and people like you are not permitted to go inside?” Rahim was afraid but he gathered courage and said “The royal singer Firoz has asked me to see him in the fort.” Hearing that, the Guard said,” You wait here. I will check for whether he has really wanted to see you.” After some time the guard came back with another person who asked him to follow him.
After entering a huge room, he met a man who introduced himself as the royal singer Firoz and to astonishment of Rahim he was none other the person who had met him before and had asked him to come to the fort to meet the singer. Rahim was speechless seeing the world famous singer in front of him. The singer said,” I know the way you must be feeling. I didn’t give you my real introduction as you might have been afraid seeing me here. I had heard you singing in the village. You have an inborn skill but it needs some polish. Would you like to learn singing from me along with my other students? ”
Now, Rahim’s jaw dropped and  he said yes. The singer asked him to take some rest and said that his lesson would begin from the next day. On the next day, Rahim came to the classroom where some other three or four students were waiting for the singer. The royal singer came and they all started practicing. During practice, Rahim showed extraordinary quality and superiority over the other student. The royal singer praised him for his skill. At this the other student felt jealous. Rahim started practicing very hard. His singing started to improve more day by day. Seeing the hard work of the boy and his talent, the singer also started giving him personal classes.
One day the other students formulated a plan to teach Rahim a lesson. They stole some money from the room of the singer and accused Rahim of the theft. But the Singer was a very intelligent person. He sensed that there was something wrong. He then had a conversation with Rahim in private and came to know that there was no fault of the boy and it was all planned. He asked the kid to accompany him to the palace where he had a show after some days. On the day of the show, Rahim dressed very nicely for the special occasion. He went to the palace with the royal singer Firoz. He was amazed to see the beauty of the palace and the person from all over the world. He felt nervous to see so many people at once but the singer put his hand on his shoulder and assured him. Then they sat on the stage and performed together. It was a very nice show. All the people present started praising them. The royal singer introduced Rahim to the court. Gradually Rahim became very successful in his singing and his fame grew all over the world.

Journal 5

The Internet is so much a world on its own, it already rivals the real life. It is not surprising that there will come a time when people would not go outdoors anymore. Why? We get news,  friends, and everything online. I decided to pick a very important topic called: social networking. They are websites where we can meet people from all over the world and develop relationship, I mean any kind of relationship with those who we share common interests with. These websites in the Internet are more than just to exchange profile information, beliefs and interests of one person to another. In social networking, news and information are disseminated and heard, new friends are known, old friends are known better, work are provided, businesses and transactions are made possible and so on. There are times when even the future can be secured through this. Social networking is invisible yet very tangible as it makes all things possible and gets us where we cannot be physically present at – all these possibilities lie at our fingertips. This is such an innovative way of communicating where we can get to say hello to someone in the other side of the earth  and get things done in front of our computers. While social networking seems to put people together, does it not separate them at the same time? What then happens to real news, real friends and real life outside cyberspace?  The possibilities of asking these questions are endless.
